Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. Her initial roles on Broadway include in the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked on projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It will also be available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in March 2023, with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at helm of the production. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Her two-season stint on the CBS show B Positive was her first major character. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
